A shift from Learning & Development (L&D) to Performance & Development (P&D)
In a similar thread, the title learning & development will begin to slip away in 2021 as L&D teams take a more organisational learning approach. In 2021 businesses will ramp up their focus on the things that provide competitive advantage and will naturally want to get more from their talent.
The teams ready to shift to a more performance mindset, will be those most likely to succeed in what is likely to be an incredibly volatile and uncertain year.
Skill, skills, skills, leader, leaders, leaders
I think there's a need in 2021 for teams to review their existing leadership development offer. They need to be prepared to re-invent it to ensure leaders have the required skills to support more dispersed and autonomous teams.
Authoritarian practices are no longer effective or tolerated. The onus is on leaders to acquire coaching skills, be able to create deep rapport with each member in their team, be even more emotionally intelligent, and be able to achieve all this via Teams or Zoom.
In my opinion, the P&D teams brave enough to completely re-imagine their leadership development will create the most impact on the success of their businesses.
