The Challenge
Throughout our engagement, Kinectrics has needed to find the best and brightest in its field across a range of positions. Approximately 30% of employees hold Doctorate degrees and close to 60% have a technical, science or engineering background—with many at the Master’s degree level.
However, Kinectrics is a business with a unique identity. And identifying candidates with the right cultural fit and personal qualities was just as important as finding personnel with high-calibre technical skills.
While successful candidates had to be degree qualified, ideally with an engineering or utility works background, they also had to demonstrate an entrepreneurial mindset.
There was also a strong emphasis on relationship management, with the effective nurturing of customers and cross-country internal relationships an essential competency.
This was especially true of the European Managing Director position.
The remit and accountabilities were challenging. Kinectrics Inc had acquired a UK business and a new MD was required to integrate and transform this new acquisition. The candidate needed the gravitas to deal with a legacy management team coupled with a strong technical background
